Watch BComm Convention 2023 - Webinar 2: BComm Programme Director Dr. Rosemary Murphy Explains Responsible Leadership and delves into another one of their unique features; the experiential learning focus of our Commerce program and discusses just some of the co-curricular activities within CK201.

First-year students are introduced to various business disciplines with a strong emphasis on developing critical thinking skills that employers highly desire. A key figure in this educational journey is Dr. Rosemary Murphy, director of the PhD in Health Economics program at Cork University Business School (CUBS). Dr. Murphy's expertise encompasses a broad range of topics, including the economics of subjective well-being. She is well-versed in teaching courses like "Economics of Corporate Strategy" and has supervised numerous theses on mental health and the economic implications of alcohol consumption.

Dr. Murphy strongly supports experiential learning and ensures that the program offers practical application opportunities, such as the annual Business Plan Competition, allowing students to apply their skills in a competitive setting. She has also integrated our business simulation into her BU 1000 course to help her first-year students develop critical thinking skills. This approach reflects her commitment to dynamic and modern teaching methodologies, aiming to equip students with critical analytical skills for both academia and the professional world.

Dr. Murphy's insights on the BComm program highlight the progressive nature of Cork University's approach to business education: making active learning the standard. The partnership with Market Games marks a significant advancement in providing innovative, interactive learning solutions, to help educators make business education more relevant and engaging for the next generation of learners.
